Our Team

John (Cycling Coach) and Alex Stirzaker (Food Coach)

We both come from very different backgrounds than most cycling coaches, John has been a Financial Adviser for 26 years which means he has spent a lot time talking to clients about their plans and objectives whilst using various tools to develop those plans and discuss complex financial arrangements.  Alex spent many years in social care and was a carer herself and more recently spent a few years working for a legal firm.  This experience in client facing roles means we are able to deliver a personal experience for our athletes.

In 2014 we set off on a charity ride from London to Paris in aid of a good friend’s charity “The U Foundation” an experience that has stayed with us to this day. We loved the comradery and the beauty of riding through Northern France and the awesome experience of cycling down the Champs Elysees. Little did we know that it would set us off on a “road” to a whole new world of training, events, exciting locations, and an endless search for those “marginal gains” to help us meet our goals.  We’ve spent time putting together ideas from a wide range of experts in training, nutrition, and strength training and how to balance the stresses and strains of day-to-day life.

In 2015 John rode from Newcastle to London in 24 hours, an experience that definitely left a scar of suffering.  In 2018, John took part in his first Haute Route Alps, riding for 7 days from Megeve to Nice an event that inspired them even further. We both completed Haute Route Ventoux in 2019 where we won the mixed doubles compact category.  In 2019 John took part in the Ventoux event again dealing with some of the worst weather Haute Route had ever seen.  In 2021 John completed the 10th Anniversary Haute Route Alps which was a huge honour given the calibre of the field.

With this wealth of experience, we are perfectly placed to help any level of enthusiastic mid-life cyclist achieve their dreams on the bike.
